Glow

caught in the

There’s a certain kind of magic that lives in the quiet corners of our homes — the soft flicker of a candle, the twinkle of lights strung with care, the hush of winter air wrapping around you like a blanket. I often think back to my wedding, where the glow of lights and hundreds of tiny candles reminded me of fireflies—little sparks of wonder dancing all around us. That same feeling—that warmth, that enchantment—is what inspired this year’s Holiday Minis. These sessions are a celebration of light in all its forms—glowing, golden, and full of story.

Let’s capture those small, heartwarming moments that shine the brightest during the holiday season. Whether it’s a stolen smile, cozy cuddles, or simply the way the light falls just right, these minis are designed to wrap your memories in warmth and wonder.

A Guide to Timeless Style
& Wardrobe Chapter

Authenticity, stitched in

Occasionally, the timing of your shoot depends on the location chosen. Regarding your location, it's entirely about your vibe and style. Are you wanting natural, nature, modern, architecture, desert, grass, or water? Here's a link to some of my favorite hidden gems: DESTINATIONS.

The Location

Golden Hour - just after sunrise or right before sunset - offers dreamy soft light, even contrast, and cooler temps (a must in AZ). There’s something magical about these hours, and as a morning girl, I love sunrise sessions for their calm, golden glow as the world wakes up.

The Time

I suggest booking your session at least one month in advance. This gives you ample time to prepare with outfits and other details. My weekends fill up fast, but if you're flexible and available on Monday, Tuesday, or Wednesday, I can usually accommodate you promptly.

The Date

take it from the professional

Tip: Shooting at sunrise grants us the opportunity to have the location all to ourselves. For a successful shoot with little ones, it's best to plan around their happiest times, even if it means sacrificing prime lighting conditions. The key is to discover your kids' "golden hour" for optimal results.

Comfort and confidence is key to making the most of your session. I honestly believe the most important thing is to feel comfortable during your time. What do you feel the most YOU in? Don't overthink the outfits (be you).

COLOR
Think neutral and warm! Earth tones, pastels, and neutrals are good guidelines. Sticking with a color palette like this will give your photos a cohesive style and truthfully they look the best on camera. Sometimes too much color can reflect with lighting or clash with your background. A neutral palette is timeless and classic. A little color can be fun, just make sure to even out the team.

TEXTURES & PATTERNS
Bringing in textures and patterns adds dimension & movement to an image. The rule of thumb for pattern is one and done. If you want to bring in floral, plaid, stripes, or a pop of something the best answer is to pick one. As for textures, I love a good staple piece! Afew items would be: a cardigan, flowy dress, linen, some velevet, or a statement accessory (like jewlery).

LAYERS
If you want to add a little character to the photos you can never go wrong with a fun hat. I highly recommend staying away from glasses of all types as much as possible- these tend to create reflections or glares! Other ways to bring this in is with a cozy jacket, blanket, or even a vest for the men in your session.

SKIN IS IN
Wanting to feel intimate and cozy but without all the layers? No problem, skin makes images feel intimate too. Show skin (to your comfort level). Example: off the shoulder, slits in your dress, or for your littles think shirtless for boys and littl jeans.

PRO TIP REMINDER...
Try your outfits on at least a week or two before- make sure you and/or the family feel good in them. For the little ones: I recommend arriving 10 mins early to your session to change them into their outfit - no spitup!

THE NIGHT OR WEEK BEFORE
Prepare your clothes the night before, or better yet, a couple of nights ahead! I also suggest spending a few weeks to curate your outfits, ensuring you're not scrambling the week of your session. If you have children, make the photo experience enjoyable for them too. Involve them in preparing their outfits the night before and let them choose one item (like a toy) they'd like to showcase during the session. This not only validates their participation but also makes them feel special. Additionally, it's a good idea to have tasty, easy snacks (like Cheerios, Smarties, fruit snacks, or yogurt melts) and water readily available in the morning for those unpredictable mornings when things don't go as planned. Please note: DO NOT bring chocolates or other sticky types of snacks.

CONSIDER BRINGING

  • a pair of flats if you plan to wear heels (easier to move from one location to the next)
  • if your session is in the desert please consider shoes not sandals
  • a blanket to sit on if you want to get all cozy on the ground
  • bring towels and a changing outfit if you are doing water shots
  • water- keeping hydrated is key
  • snack for the little: something like Cheerios, Smarties, fruit snacks, or yogurt melts
  •  - no mess, no stress (stay away from colored food)
  • have a song or video ready to play for the kids to get their attention during their shoot
  • prize or treat for kiddos as an incentive after the session

LOCATION + TIMING

Please make sure you are on time for your session. (15 minutes early is best). I want you to get the full experience of your session. Please note: 15 minutes late can/may result in a cancellation which would lead to a non-refundable session.

THE DRIVE

If you have kiddos, as you're heading to your session, encourage them to practice the silly and joyful faces they want to make. Build excitement by framing it as something fun to anticipate. Discuss the possibility of spotting animals or interesting things during the shoot. Put on music from one of your favorite stations or curate a playlist together to add to the excitement!

THE REWARD

During the session, opt for rewards like Smarties or NERDS motivate them. Transform the session into a family outing; whether it's choosing to go buy a toy together or picking a restaurant (or icecream) after the session. Make it a special experience for them.

MY BIG IMPORTANT TIP*

Allow the kids to be their authentic selves, and you do the same. This isn't your typical smile-for-the-camera photoshoot. Use this opportunity to seize the moment, create lasting memories, and remember that the true essence of everything lies right there in front of you. Do you cherish genuine, unfiltered moments? The key is to embrace the natural behavior of the little ones (and yourself) and let me take charge to keep the fun flowing. Here's the best advice: imagine I'm not even there. This experience should brim with joy, laughter, and affection. So, take a moment to relax, let loose, tap into your inner child, and savor every moment!
